Food as Fuel: A Partnership Between Fit Kitchen and Ivanie Blondin

We’ve all heard the term, “food is fuel,” a phrase that athletes of all walks of life take to heart. For elite athletes, nutrition is a significant component of their training – equally as important as getting enough sleep, acing high-quality workouts, and properly hydrating. With one of the world’s largest athletic competition underway, we’re witnessing incredible feats day in and day out, and we can’t help but be curious about the regimens that have led each athlete to where they’re at today. At Fit Kitchen, we’re lucky enough to get an insider look through partnerships with amazing athletes like Ivanie Blondin.
Meet Ivanie Blondin
Ivanie has been a friend of Fit Kitchen for many years, but it’s only since the summer that we started sponsoring her. As one of our country’s most decorated speed skaters, she holds 60 World Cup medals and 8 career World Championship medals. Having previously specialized in short track speed skating, Ivanie made the move to Calgary in 2010 to focus on long track, an event that she’s now regularly competing in.
As you can imagine, her schedule is packed with lots of on-ice practice, recovery sessions, and of course, everyday life maintenance like running errands, booking appointments and more. On days when getting up an hour earlier just isn’t an option, we’re happy to cut out some of the stress that comes with performance meal prep and planning, allowing her to focus on the task at hand. More recently, we even helped to supply her with some food during a big move! We’ve been providing healthy meals for athletes since we started in 2015, and we’re not stopping.
Watching Ivanie succeed on the road to this momentous 2026 competition has been incredible, and we’re proud to be her go-to for nutritious, macro-balanced meals that help her to continue pursuing her goals. We’ve broken down her favourite meals and why they’re effective for performance, so you can gain some inspiration and tailor your own meal plan.
Ivanie’s Fit Kitchen Picks
Out Fit Falafel Bowl features savoury chickpea herb falafels on a bed of fresh kale and romaine, topped with tomatoes, pickled cabbage, house-made hummus, and our signature yogurt lemon dressing. It’s fresh, while still being high with macros. The perfect option for when Ivanie is craving a salad, but still needs the sufficient nutrients to hit a big workout. Pro tip: If you add chicken breast to this meal, it boosts the protein count to 40 grams and helps you achieve that high-protein diet!
Ivanie has always said this is probably her #2 Fit Kitchen meal. Another dish that features Mediterranean flavours, Dinner in Sparta features grilled chicken thighs, roasted potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, and house-made tzatziki and hummus. This is another great pick if you’re looking for something fresh to add to your meal rotation, but want to stay satiated for longer. At 44 grams of protein, your body gets what it needs to sustain your lifestyle, including heart-healthy fats from olives, olive oil, and tahini.
Healthy comfort food at its finest. Juicy cajun marinated chicken atop turmeric rice, roasted potatoes, and mixed greens (kale and romaine) with a side of housemade hummus and lemon yogurt sauce provide the replenishment you need after a hard workout. For Ivanie, this is what she reaches for when she’s had a long day on the ice and needs to finish tackling her to-do list. 56 grams of high-quality protein allow for faster recovery, while the turmeric rice helps with immune support.
We’ll report back as Ivanie adds more meals to her everyday performance meal prep lineup. Looking for meals to help support your goals and lifestyle? We’ve got your nutrition covered. Check out our menu here.
